Reminder -- New FCC Application Fees Go Into Effect Tuesday, October 17th
Just a reminder that the new FCC application filing fees go into effect on Tuesday, October 17th. As we reported earlier, the FCC has bumped its fees up slightly to reflect the consumer price index increases for the last two years. Accordingly, licensees will find that the fees for applications submitted to the FCC will be slightly higher starting on Tuesday. Some examples of the increased fees for typical broadcast applications are as follows:
Old Fee New Fee
- Assignment/Transfer of Control (Form 314/315) $830.00 $895.00
- Renewal of License Application (Form 303-S) $150.00 $160.00
- Ownership Reports (Form 323) $55.00 $60.00
- FM License Application (Form 302-FM) $170.00 $185.00
- AM License Application (Form 302-AM) $545.00 $585.00
- Minor Change Application (Form 301) $830.00 $895.00
- Call Sign Change $85.00 $90.00
- Special Temporary Authority $150.00 $160.00
This is just a sampling of some of the more common fees. A list of all the FCC's fees is included as part of the FCC's Order. And although it hasn't been posted yet, a new fee guide for each of the services, including the Media Bureau, should be available from the FCC soon at the following website. So starting October 17th, be sure to use the new fee amounts or else your application could be rejected by the FCC.
